Parry Sound Anglers & Hunters Inc.
Parry Sound Anglers and Hunters operate a Clubhouse and Shooting Range at 41
Brooks Road approximately 8 km. south of Parry Sound off Oastler Park Drive.
The original Clubhouse was built in 1970 and the Trap House in 1972. The Clubhouse
was expanded to include a kitchen, washrooms and drilled well in 2001 with support
from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Club was incorporated in 1976 by a
group of like-minded sportsmen dedicated to:
a) Promote the angling, hunting and shooting sports
b) Promote hunting and firearm safety and to provide a safe and secure environment
for same
c) Promote ethics and sportsmanship and encourage members to become actively
involved in habitat rehabilitation and the "conservation of the Natural
Resources of my country , its soils and minerals its air, water , forests and
wildlife”.
Membership is currently around 130 individuals and families. Members actively engage in rehabilitation and conservation projects in co-operation with the Ministry of Natural Resources: - Spawning bed renewal, Winter deer yard browse cutting, Brush and tree planting, Emergency deer feeding , Building of wood duck boxes, and Food plot planting. We have a Plotmaster and a variety of seeds for use in cultivating and seeding small plots. These are available free of charge for members and at a small fee for non-members.
Our ranges are certified by the Chief Firearms Office on an annual basis. We have a rifle range with shooting benches at 25, 50 and 100 yard distances. The handgun and 22 rimfire rifle range offers outside and inside shooting stations. The latter offers protection from the bugs and weather and includes warmth in the winter. Trap shooting occurs on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings. An elevated shooting stand gives a safe and realistic shooting position for the archery range.
We welcome and encourage new members and, to this end, we open our ranges to
area hunters, who are non-members, to “sight in” their rifles prior
to moose and deer seasons for a small fee. OFAH members receive a discount.
